Keeping a pulse on the availability of your business is crucial to scaling and while you can quickly audit for inventory gaps, suppressions due to profitability are harder to uncover and trickier to solve. At Marshall, we work brands that use our team and technology to quickly identify potential suppressions and put together action plans that help mitigate the outages.
Marshall Insights is an internal platform developed to help our team and our brands keep a pulse on the eCommerce landscape. Our Insights platform can connect into eCommerce retailers API feeds and extract sales data that we overlay in our dashboards to find the highest performers and largest risk to the business.
We begin with a daily-generated availability report focused on a brand’s highest-volume SKUs, ranked by the trailing 12-month sales performance. This report is used to evaluation potential lost sales by analyzing historical sales data over the trailing 12-months, trailing 4-weeks and current weeks-of-stock inventory levels. Based on this analysis, we generate a daily suppression report that flags at-risk SLUs with insufficient availability, allowing for immediate identification and action at the SKU level.
Now that we understand which SKUs are suppressed, before we come up with action plans to fix, we need to understand the Why.
Key Takeaway: Staying in stock is essential, but not all availability issues are obvious. At Marshall, we use our proprietary Marshall Insights platform to detect hard-to-spot suppressions—like those tied to profitability—and generate daily SKU-level reports that identify risks and reveal the why behind outages, enabling faster, smarter action plans.
